Toll Tax to be Expensive in Punjab from April 1

Tax on vehicles has been hiked from Rs 5 to Rs 10

CHANDIGARH: The Toll tax has been hiked on various national highways passing through Punjab from April 1. The tax on vehicles has been increased from Rs 5 to Rs 10. The increased rates will be effective from 12:00 midnight on March 31.

According to the information, the toll tax for light vehicles at the toll booths built on the National Highway in Punjab, has been hiked from Rs 100 to Rs 105. Rs 220 rupees will be charged instead of 210 rupees for heavy vehicles. This has been confirmed by Raghav Kumar, in-charge of toll plaza of Jalandhar zone.

Commuters have to pay hike toll tax at Chaukiman toll plaza on Ludhiana-Jagraon road, Ludhiana South City-Ladowal bypass toll plaza, five toll plazas on Bathinda-Chandigarh road, three toll plazas on Bathinda-Amritsar road and one toll plaza on Bathinda-Malot road. Along with this, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that the government is planning to introduce new technology including GPS based toll collection system in the next 6 months.
