Only Green Fire Crackers Allowed in Punjab; Flipkart, Amazon Cannot Sell Fire Crackers: Punjab Govt: As the festive seasons of Diwali, Gurupurab, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve approach, the Punjab government has prohibited, restricted, and regulated the sale and use of firecrackers in the State of Punjab. Under the new directive, only green crackers are permitted in the state at specific times and on particular dates.
The state government has also encouraged and promoted community firecracker events, aiming to reduce air and noise pollution.
The state government has completely banned the manufacture, stock, distribution, sale, and use of joined firecrackers (series crackers or laries) across the state.
Only green crackers (those crackers that do not contain barium salts or compounds of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic, lead, or strontium chromate) are allowed for sale and use in the State of Punjab. The sale of permitted firecrackers will only be through licensed traders.
The government has strictly directed licensees not to store, display, or sell any firecrackers whose decibel levels exceed the permitted limits.
The Punjab government has allowed only green crackers for a very short duration.

Community Firecracker Events
The AAP-led government has suggested community firecracker events. To promote community firecracking, particular areas/fields, it said, should be pre-identified and pre-designated by the concerned authorities immediately and publicized widely for public information.
No Fire Crackers Sale on E-commerce websites
E-commerce websites, including Flipkart, Amazon, etc., have been strictly instructed not to accept online orders or carry out online sales within the State of Punjab.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioners in the state will conduct extensive public awareness campaigns informing the public about the harmful effects of firecrackers in the coming days as per the government order.
Police authorities have also been instructed to ensure that the sale and use of only allowed green firecrackers take place during the permitted times and at designated places.
Special Precautions And Orders In Non-Attainment Cities
Those cities in Punjab that have been identified as having poor air quality have been instructed to take extra care and implement stricter measures to control pollution during the festivals.
Therefore in nine such non-attainment cities in the state, as per the directive, the District Magistrates will take special precautions after considering the ambient air quality of the concerned cities and will pass appropriate orders to ensure compliance with the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, the order said.
Strictest actions, it said, will be taken against offenders who violate the directions. Immediate penal action under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, as well as legal action under Section 223 of the BNS and other applicable provisions, will be taken against them, according to the order.
