Under Giani Raghbir Singh's leadership, Sri Akal Takht Sahib aims to foster a strong sense of Sikh identity
AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh has officially taken charge as the new Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, in a ceremonial event attended by numerous religious leaders and dignitaries. The outgoing Jathedar, Giani Harpreet Singh, also graced the occasion, marking a smooth transition of responsibilities.
Just yesterday, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) announced the appointment of Giani Raghbir Singh as the new Jathedar of Akal Takht, succeeding Giani Harpreet Singh. Known as the mini parliament of the Sikhs, the SGPC holds significant influence in Sikh religious affairs.
The decision to install Giani Raghbir Singh as the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib was made during a special meeting of the Internal Committee, as per Resolution No. 609 dated June 16, 2023.
SGPC President Advocate Dhami extended his heartfelt congratulations to Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on assuming the esteemed position and commencing his service as Jathedar. Advocate Dhami also acknowledged the commendable contributions of former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh.
During the event, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh received felicitations from the Jathedars of other Takhts, further solidifying the bond between these influential spiritual leaders.
