Chandigarh administration has extended the winter holidays in schools.
Punjab School Winter Vacation Holidays Extension Latest News Today: Amid cold-wave conditions, the students of Punjab schools were expecting an extension in the school holidays. However, no extension has been provided to the students this year. Earlier, the Punjab Government extended the winter vacation holidays for only the students of classes up to 5, till January 21.
An official source from the Punjab School Education Department confirmed that there would be no extension in the school holidays.
Earlier, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains took to X and wrote, "According to the guidelines of Honorable Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Maan ji, all the primary schools of the state up to the 5th class (Government/Aided/Recognized and Private) will remain closed from 15th January to 21st January 2024 due to the severe cold in the state and in view of the health and safety of the students."
He had also said, "All Middle, High, and Senior Secondary Schools (Government/Aided/Recognised and Private) of the state will have regular sessions from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm from tomorrow i.e. January 15 onwards. Similarly, all double-shift schools will have timings from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM while no double-shift school shall open after 4:00 p.m. These orders will remain in force with immediate effect till 21 January 2024."

Punjab Weather Update News:
Although the Meteorological Department had predicted that the weather would remain dry in Haryana and Punjab. Dense to very dense fog was predicted from most places in Punjab and at a few places in Haryana. However, weather started to improve on Tuesday with most areas witnessing sun rays during the afternoon hours.
