Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s indefinite hunger strike continues to draw attention as both the government and the Supreme Court urge him to end his fast. However, farmer organizations have made it clear that Dallewal will not be moved to a hospital until their demands are fully addressed.
In a press conference held at the Khanauri border, farmer leader Surjit Phool issued a stern warning to authorities. “If the administration attempts to move Dallewal to the temporary hospital nearby, the situation may escalate,” he said, suggesting that tensions could worsen.
Phool also questioned the intent behind the establishment of the temporary hospital near the protest site. “The DGP of Punjab should clarify whether this facility is for Dallewal or someone else. Only then will we decide on our response,” he added.
Supporters who visited Dallewal today reported that his health is deteriorating. His blood pressure is reportedly unstable, raising concerns about his wellbeing. Yet, Dallewal remains steadfast, refusing medical intervention until the farmers' demands are met.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that roads are being closed to prevent Haryana farmers from reaching the Khanauri border, further fueling frustration among the protesting farmers. “The government shows no concern for the Annadata,” said one protester. “We are prepared to sacrifice our lives for Dallewal but will not let anyone harm him.”
Adding to the tension, farmers claim helipads are being constructed nearby, sparking fears of an airlift operation to remove Dallewal against his will.
The protest, which highlights the ongoing struggles of farmers, continues to garner widespread attention. Farmer groups have vowed to stand their ground until a resolution is reached. The situation remains tense as all eyes are on the government’s next move.
