Focus on Merit-Based Employment Across Departments

Chandigarh: In a continued push to generate employment and provide government jobs to the youth, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has so far distributed over 55,000 appointment letters within its 41-month tenure.

The state government has consistently emphasized merit-based recruitment since the beginning. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the government is fully committed to providing employment opportunities in a fair, transparent, and corruption-free manner. All appointments made during this period have been based strictly on merit, with candidates selected through competitive examinations.

“These jobs are the result of the candidates' hard work and dedication. There has been no compromise on transparency or merit,” the Chief Minister affirmed.

Further strengthening its employment drive, the government has also regularised the services of 942 long-serving employees of the Forest Department, acknowledging their contribution and ensuring job security.

In addition, the Punjab government is working to strengthen Anganwadi services, making them more efficient and citizen-friendly. As part of this effort, the recruitment process for over 5,000 vacant posts of Anganwadi workers and helpers will be completed by September 30, 2025.

In a first-of-its-kind move, the government has also decided to offer employment opportunities to the dependents of Anganwadi workers and helpers who have become permanently disabled or incapacitated due to life-threatening illnesses during their service.

With these continued efforts, the Punjab government is not only expanding job opportunities but also building a more compassionate and inclusive employment framework for the state.
