Vigilance Bureau Catches 8 persons Red Handed in 6 bribery cases In August, Latest News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in its ongoing crusade against corruption in the state, apprehended six employees and two private persons 'red-handed' while accepting bribes in six different trap cases in August, the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, said in a press release.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state Vigilance Bureau said the VB has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period.

The spokesperson informed that the Bureau had submitted challans pertaining to 20 vigilance cases in various competent courts in the last month. Apart from this, 2 vigilance enquiries have also been registered to thoroughly probe the corruption cases against public servants. He added that 7 criminal cases were also registered against 15 accused, besides one disproportionate asset case was also registered against a Government employee.

Giving more details, the spokesperson added that different competent courts had decided two bribery cases filed and contested by the Vigilance Bureau during the last month, in which two persons were convicted and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and fines ranging from Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 50,000/-.
