Punjab Police Bust Kapurthala ‘Software Solutions’ Scam Targeting US, Canada Latest News: Acting on secret information, Kapurthala Police busted a major cyber fraud racket in Phagwara that primarily targeted people in the USA and Canada under the guise of providing software solutions, the DGP of Punjab Police said.
Police arrested 36 accused on the spot, recovering 40 laptops, 67 mobile phones, and Rs 10,00,000 in cash.
The DGP said that, according to the preliminary investigation, the racket was operated by a local individual, Amrinder Singh alias Sabhi Tohri, who had leased the premises.
Sabhi Tohri is linked to Suraj from Delhi, who is further linked with a suspect named Shen from Kolkata, the DGP added.
According to police, the transactions were primarily conducted through Bitcoin, and hawala channels were also found to be involved.
An FIR has been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Kapurthala.
Further investigation is underway to expose the full nexus, including the backward and forward linkages of the network.
The DGP affirmed that @PunjabPoliceInd remains resolute in dismantling cyber fraud rackets and ensuring a safe and secure Punjab.
According to sources, the Cyber Crime Police, Kapurthala, raided a hotel in Phagwara last night where the alleged cyber fraud was being carried out.
