Dallewal remains resolute, urging the government to address farmers' concerns.

Jagjit Singh Dallewal Health Update Multiple Organ Failure Risks Amid Hunger Strike: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal (70), who has been on a hunger strike for 23 days at the Khanauri border, faces severe health complications, including the risk of multiple organ failure. Dallewal, who is battling cancer, has consumed only water during his protest, which has drastically impacted his health.

Doctors monitoring Dallewal report alarming conditions such as declining blood pressure, increasing creatinine levels, and the presence of ketones in his urine. Medical experts warn that without immediate hospitalization, his situation may deteriorate further, leading to kidney or liver failure and even a potential heart attack.

Despite his critical condition, Dallewal refused to end his hunger strike until the government met his 13 demands, including a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.

Medical Concerns and Risks

1. Increased Vulnerability Due to Age and Cancer:
Medical professionals emphasize that prolonged fasting at Dallewal's age is highly dangerous. As a cancer patient, his body already struggles with weakened immunity and an inability to tolerate extended periods without nutrition.

2. Organ Stress and Immunity Decline:
Prolonged fasting has led to reduced immunity, putting additional stress on his kidneys and liver. Doctors fear malnutrition will lead to organ failure.

3. Kidney Failure Likely:
Doctors have noted rising creatinine levels, signaling that his kidneys are struggling to filter waste effectively. This increases the risk of toxic blood buildup and kidney failure.

4. Ketones and Long-Term Damage:
Dallewal's body has begun breaking down fat instead of glucose for energy, as indicated by high ketone levels in his urine. This process can harm digestion, memory, and long-term organ function.

Medical Support on the Ground

Two medical teams—one appointed by the government and another by the farmers—are monitoring Dallewal's health. Coordination between these teams has ensured consistent care. However, both groups stress the urgency of immediate hospitalization to prevent fatal complications.

Supreme Court's Concern

The Supreme Court recently intervened, emphasizing that Dallewal’s life must take precedence over the protest. On December 13, the court directed both the Punjab and central governments to ensure he receives immediate medical assistance.

Call to Action

Despite the dire warnings, Dallewal remains resolute, urging the government to address farmers' concerns. His supporters, while worried for his health, continue to back his demands, intensifying pressure on authorities to act swiftly.
