Giani Harpreet Singh Controversy Latest News Today: Giani Harpreet Singh, the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, has strongly responded to accusations regarding his character and the controversial remarks made during a conversation with Virsa Singh Valtoha on October 15.
Speaking to reporters, Giani Harpreet Singh clarified that his use of the term "Sala-Sali" was not intended to insult but rather reflects the language of the Malvaiyas, a community to which he belongs. He emphasized that such expressions are common during informal discussions, asserting that only a 27-second snippet of the conversation was made public.
"The full video, which is one and a half hours long, should be released. Once the devotees hear it, they will question why a stricter decision was not taken against Virsa Singh Valtoha," said Giani Harpreet Singh. He expressed frustration over the selective release of a brief segment of the conversation, which, he believes, has been used to attack his character unfairly.
He also commented on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Panj Singh Sahibs' decisions made on December 2, declaring that he would not attend any future meetings aimed at altering those decisions. "If there is any move to change the decisions made on December 2, I will not participate in those discussions," he stated firmly.
Regarding his earlier resignation, which he submitted two months ago, Giani Harpreet Singh clarified that he would not step down voluntarily at this point. "I have already vacated the accommodation at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, and now only the relocation of my children remains," he explained. "If the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) wants to accept my resignation, I have no objection. They can terminate my services if they wish."
On the extension given to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders to accept their resignations, Giani Harpreet Singh affirmed that the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has the authority to extend such deadlines. However, he reiterated his stance on non-participation in any future meetings that would reconsider the decisions of December 2.
The controversy surrounding Giani Harpreet Singh has sparked significant debate within the Sikh community, with calls for transparency and accountability. The release of the full video of the October 15 conversation could further intensify the discourse, as both sides await clarity on the matter.
As of now, Giani Harpreet Singh remains steadfast in his position, refusing to back down from his decisions while maintaining that his integrity has been unjustly attacked.
