Warring demanded a Rs 500 crore corpus fund for the Punjab Agricultural University to strengthen agricultural research.
Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday questioned the absence of a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, noting that it has not been granted even after more than 700 farmers lost their lives during various protests over the issue.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Warring demanded a loan waiver and interest relief for small and medium farmers. He also called for a Rs 50,000 crore crop diversification package for Punjab.
Targeting the Centre on the stubble burning issue, he said that farmers are being blamed without being provided adequate support or viable solutions.
The Congress MP further questioned why Punjab’s farmers are excluded from crop insurance schemes, especially amid the growing climate crisis.
The Centre also came under criticism on the Public Distribution System (PDS), with allegations that the poor are being denied ration in the name of KYC requirements.
Additionally, Warring demanded a Rs 500 crore corpus fund for the Punjab Agricultural University to strengthen agricultural research.
Amrinder Singh Raja Warring was among eight MPs who were suspended at the beginning of the Budget Session of Parliament following disruptions in the Lok Sabha. However, their suspension was recently revoked.
