Police said dense fog caused the road accident in Punjab's Bathinda.
Punjab's Bathinda Road Accident News Today: In a shocking incident, a toddler was killed after a car ran over a migrant family sleeping on the pavement under the flyover in Bathinda city early on Wednesday.
According to police, dense fog has caused the road accident in Punjab's Bathinda as the car driver was not able to see the roadside.
As per the report, the station house officer of Thermal police station Parminder Singh stated that the deceased was identified as one-year-old Nandini. Similarly, the infant's mother has been identified as Shivani, 25, and the maternal grandmother as Meera, 75. Both of them have reportedly suffered injuries.
In the meanwhile, the injured people were taken to Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital by a voluntary organisation.
It has been reported that the road accident took place near the local Rose Garden in Punjab's Bathinda when the victims were sleeping on the pavement under the flyover on the Bathinda-Patiala national highway. Reportedly, the family used to sell balloons in the garden to feed themselves.
As per SHO, the preliminary investigation showed the driver was not drunk and that the driver is a resident of Gurdaspur. He was reportedly on the way back to his home after paying obeisance at Talwandi Sabo when the accident took place.
The police said that the driver was not familiar with the city’s roads. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle hit the pavement due to poor visibility. Currently, the driver is in police custody and further action will be initiated based on a statement by the affected persons.
