Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visits the family of Martyr Agniveer Amritpal Singh

MANSA: Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, showcased solidarity with the family of the late martyr Agniveer Amritpal Singh, who lost his life at the nation's border. In a gesture of support and empathy, Chief Minister Mann visited the martyr's residence, offering condolences and delivering a monetary grant of INR 1 crore on behalf of the Punjab government.

The visit was prompted by a recent incident where Agniveer Amritpal Singh, despite making the ultimate sacrifice, was not accorded the customary guard of honour. In response, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann promptly announced the substantial financial assistance for the grieving family.

Expressing his deep sympathy, Chief Minister Mann acknowledged that no monetary compensation could ever replace the loss of a loved one, but hoped that the grant would aid the family financially during these trying times. He raised pertinent questions regarding the adequacy of military training duration, comparing it to other professions like that of a Patwari.

He shared the sentiment of the martyr's father, who was deeply dismayed by the lack of recognition for his son's sacrifice. The family highlighted the discrepancy in treatment despite their son being equipped and deployed similarly to other soldiers.

Chief Minister Mann underlined the significance of understanding the intricacies of military policy and its implications. He pledged to address the issue with both the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasizing the need to avoid labeling the incident as a suicide, which could adversely impact the morale of aspiring soldiers. CM Mann urged the central government and the armed forces to uphold the honor of soldiers like Amritpal Singh, emphasizing that the burden of supporting his family, including seven sisters and one married sister, rested on his shoulders.
