DM prohibits Gathering of four or more within 100 m around Exam Centre MCM, DAV College, Sector-36 News: District Magistrate, Chandigarh, has issued directions to prevent the likelihood of causing obstructions in the maintenance of peace and law and order, and in conducting the Punjab and Haryana Superior Judicial Service Main Written Examination 2025.

The examination is scheduled to be conducted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh from 19.09.2025 (Friday) to 21.09.2025 (Sunday) at MCM, DAV College, Sector 36, Chandigarh.

Nishant Kumar Yadav, District Magistrate, Chandigarh, has prohibited the gathering of four or more persons (except the candidates for examination), carrying of any firearms and other weapons/articles capable of causing injury, raising slogans and displaying placards in the area of 100 meters around the examination centre, i.e,. MCM, DAV College, Sector-36, Chandigarh, from 19.09.2025 to 21.09.2025.

DM has further ordered that the operation of photostat machines, mobile phones, laptops, Wi-Fi, and other equipment within 200 meters around the examination centre and law coaching centers in the vicinity of the examination centre to remain closed from 19.09.2025 (Friday) to 21.09.2025 (Sunday).

The directions have been issued under section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

The order does not apply to the police, para-military, military or any other government servant on official duties and order will come into force with effect from zero hours on 19.09.2025 and will be effective up-to and including 21.09.2025, the notice read.

The order is addressed to the public in general and any breach of the order would invite action under section 223 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and other relevant provisions of Law.

The DM in his order, stated, “Whereas, it has been made to appear to me that there is likelihood of causing annoyance, obstruction or injury to persons, danger to human life and property, disturbance of public peace and law and order, cheating by unlawful means such as use of photostat machine, mobile phones, laptops, Wi-fi and other personal hotspots in and around the exam centre on account of Punjab and Haryana Superior Judicial Service Main Written Examination-2025 to be conducted by the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh from 19.09.2025 (Friday) to 21.09.2025 (Sunday) at MCM, DAV College, Sector-36, Chandigarh.”

He added, “Whereas, it has also been made to appear to me that the gathering of four or more persons, carrying of fire arms and other weapons/articles capable of causing injury, raising slogans and displaying placards, operations of photostat machine, mobile phones, Wi-Fi, laptop etc. and law coaching centres near examination centre is likely to cause obstruction in the maintenance of peace and law and order and in conducting the examination properly,” 

Therefore, the directions have been issued to prevent such obstructions.
