The Water Resources Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of canals for irrigation in the Rabi Season from November 17..

Spokesman News Service: Chandigarh, November 14: The Water Resources Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of canals for irrigation in the Rabi Season from November 17 to November 24, 2018. The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Patiala Feeder, Abohar Branch, Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch and Bathinda Branch respectively.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the department said that the Distributaries and Branches of Bhakra Main Line (BML) i.e. Ghaggar Link and its off-taking channels i.e. Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor in Group 'B' being in the first preference will run to their indent. Balance water supplies available would be utilised in the Direct Distributaries of Group 'A'.

He further said that Punjab channels and branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur head works i.e. Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its Distributaries in Group ‘B’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘A’.

The spokesman also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Sabhraon Branch with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in Kasur Branch Lower, Main Branch Lower, Lahore Branch and with their distributaries respectively.
