The 74-year-old Bhai Ram Singh had been undergoing treatment for cancer for several months. He breathed his last late last night.
Bhai Ram Singh was a close associate of Sant Kartar Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, the then head of Damdami Taksal, and before entering politics, he had also rendered service in the form of kirtan (devotional singing) at the Damdami Taksal.
According to his family, his last rites will be performed in Amritsar on Wednesday after the arrival of his children from abroad.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami expressed deep grief over the demise of Bhai Ram Singh, saying that his passing away is a great loss to the Sikh Panth.
