Punjab Counter Intelligence Busts Cross-Border Smuggling Network, Two Arrested, Weapons Recovered​ News; In the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence Ferozepur/Faridkot & SSOC Fazilka has busted a cross-border smuggling network with the arrest of two weapon suppliers in Fazilka area and recovered 27 sophisticated Pistols (.30bore) alongwith 470 live ctgs from them.

On 11 September 2025, acting upon tip-of, the Police team of CI Ferozepur & SSOC Fazilka has carried out a joint secret operation in the Fazilka area, during which two suspected individuals were apprehended near Village Muhar Jamsher, close to the IndoPak International fencing, and a large cache of 27 illegal firearms of .30 bore along with 470 live ctgs — was recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Mangal Singh, also known as Mangali, son of Harbans Singh, and a resident of Tejha Rahela, Gatti Number Three, Police Station Sadar Fazilka; and Gurmeet Singh, son of Teja Singh, resident of Village Muhar Jamsher, Police Station Sadar Fazilka.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that these weapons were sourced from Pakistan through an unidentified foreign-based entity, intended for use in criminal activities in the state, officials said in a statement.

 The arrested accused were to supply these recovered weapons to ground operatives of criminal groups on the direction of an unknown foreign-based entity, it added.

 The identity and role of the foreign entity, along with its broader network, are under comprehensive investigation, it further said.

 Further investigation is underway to unravel the entire network.

“Efforts are on to identify other members involved in this module and track the origins of the smuggled weapons,” it said in a statement.
