Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Highlights Punjab's Unmatched Religious Tourism & Announces Key Initiatives

CHANDIGARH: The Inaugural three-day tourism summit and travel mart of Punjab commenced in Sector-82 of Mohali today, marked by an auspicious inauguration by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Alongside the Chief Minister, several cabinet ministers of Punjab, the Chief Secretary of Punjab, and renowned figures from the Punjab entertainment industry, including comedian Kapil Sharma, graced the event.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized the importance of showcasing Punjab's hidden gems to the world. He expressed his unwavering commitment to the development of Punjab's tourism sector, underscoring its immense potential and geographical advantage as a gateway to various popular tourist destinations in northern India.

Chief Minister Mann pointed out that tourists heading to popular destinations like Manali, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, and Shimla often traverse Punjab's terrain en route. Likewise, those seeking spiritual solace at revered places like Baglamukhi, Chintapurni Mata, Manikaran Sahib, and Naina Devi invariably pass through Punjab, making it an indispensable part of the journey.

He asserted that when it comes to religious tourism, Punjab stands unchallenged in the country. The Chief Minister also acknowledged the daily influx of around one lakh pilgrims at Amritsar Sahib, underlining the state's religious significance.

Beyond its spiritual richness, Punjab boasts natural beauty that rivals cinematic landscapes. Chief Minister Mann noted that Punjab's green fields, historic memorials, stadiums, schools dedicated to martyrs, and attractions such as the Durgiana Temple, Ramtirth, Wagah Border, and the War Museum offer a diverse array of experiences for visitors.

During the summit, Chief Minister Mann and the Tourism Minister unveiled a slew of new tourism policies aimed at bolstering Punjab's tourism industry. He also highlighted the successful attraction of investors to the tourism summit, demonstrating their confidence in the government's policies.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this is an opportune moment for capital investment in Punjab, promising streamlined processes for investors. With tremendous enthusiasm from the tourism industry, CM Bhagwant Mann anticipated significant economic benefits for Punjab in the future. Notably, approximately 600 prominent figures associated with the tourism sector from across the country are participating in the conference.

In a significant announcement, the Chief Minister revealed plans for Punjab's first celebration point, to be established in Amritsar on a hundred acres of land. This unique venue will host marriage halls with a wide range of rental options, catering to various economic backgrounds. The government aims to position Amritsar as a premier marriage destination that accommodates all income groups.

CM Mann also highlighted Punjab's potential for Eco-tourism, with the Shivalik foothills being a particular draw for tourists. He cited Chamrod near Pathankot as an example, a location where roads lead to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab, and where the 56 km lake boasts the bluest waters in the country. Efforts to promote medical tourism are also in full swing, with medical colleges in every district and the development of a Medicity in Mohali.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Saragarhi War Memorial, which will feature a large statue of Hauldar Ishar Singh, further honoring Punjab's rich history and contributions.

Notably, In a show of support for Punjab and its Chief Minister, renowned comedian Kapil Sharma praised the government's efforts to showcase Punjab's heritage and culture. He urged the world to discover the beauty and history of Punjab through this inaugural tourism summit. Kapil Sharma commended CM Bhagwant Mann for his celebrity status, which he noted was earned through his public service, distinguishing him as a unique leader.
