The court issued a notice to the Union of India

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court conducted a pivotal hearing today concerning the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha. During the proceedings, the Punjab government argued that the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha operates in Punjab and the Union Territory (UT) as it is situated on the border with Chandigarh, thus classifying it as an inter-state matter. In light of this, the court has included the central government as a party in the case.

Subsequently, the court issued a notice to the Union of India, granting a four-week period for the central government to respond and take appropriate actions in this matter.

Notably, For the past nine months, the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha has been staging a protest at the Mohali-Chandigarh border. The protest is focused on securing the release of Bandi Singhs and seeking justice for the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The involvement of the central government in this legal matter underscores the gravity and inter-state implications associated with the ongoing protest and the demands put forth by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha.
