Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema Calls the Attack on CJI BR Gavai BJP’s Conspiracy: Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday called the attempted attack on the Chief Justice of India BR Gavai a conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The minister remarked that just as BJP is allegedly against the Constitution, the party is also against Dalits.
“Two days ago, during a court proceeding involving the Chief Justice, there was an attack, and no action was taken afterward. This shows that under the BJP, the law and order situation in India has deteriorated significantly. The BJP has been continuously targeting Dalits,” Harpal Singh Cheema stated.
He added, “High-ranking Dalit officials are being deliberately singled out. A person who became a judge by following the Constitution, later a High Court judge, then a Supreme Court judge, and eventually the Chief Justice—an attack on him, I believe, is a conspiracy by the BJP.”
He further added that the number of crimes against Dalits and the poor has increased across the country, calling it something he has never seen before. He stated that AAP is taking the issue very seriously.

The Bar Council of India suspended 71-year-old lawyer Advocate Rakesh Kishore from practice in courts with immediate effect after he attempted to hurl a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on October 6 during a court proceeding.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaders in the Lower House, Rahul Gandhi, and leaders across party lines throughout the country condemned the attack.
Chief Justice of India BR Gavai’s mother, Kamalai Gavai, and sister, Kirti Arjun, also condemned the attempted attack, calling it “highly deplorable” and “unconstitutional.”
