For Jagjit Singh Dallewal and his supporters — the clock is ticking.
Dr Swaiman Singh on Jagjit Singh Dallewal Health Condition Latest News: Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a resolute voice for farmers’ rights, has been on a hunger strike for more than a month at the Khanauri border, but a grim medical crisis now overshadows his fight for justice.
Dr. Swaiman Singh, a cardiologist and founder of the 5 Rivers Heart Association, visited Dallewal on Monday and sounded an urgent alarm about his deteriorating health. In a heartfelt and urgent letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Dr. Singh described the situation as “extremely alarming.”
“Dallewal J’s health has deteriorated significantly over the past 12 hours,” Dr. Singh wrote. “He is experiencing persistent hypotension and bradycardia, which are serious medical concerns. His vital signs and physical condition are critical. This is a red alert, and immediate action is necessary.”
For over a month, Dallewal has refused food, demanding attention to the grievances of India’s farmers. His protest has drawn widespread attention but little resolution. Supporters at the Khanauri border expressed mounting anxiety over his condition, urging authorities to heed Dr. Singh’s warning and act before it is too late.
Dr. Singh’s plea has highlighted not only the human cost of the protest but also the urgency for dialogue and resolution. “As a matter of duty, I feel it is imperative to bring this to everyone’s attention,” he concluded, calling on the government to prioritize the crisis.
The farmer protest movement, which gained momentum during the 2020–21 farm law demonstrations, continues to emphasize the struggles of rural communities. Whether this latest appeal will prompt government action remains uncertain, but for Dallewal and his supporters, the clock is ticking.
