2,60,400 Cigarettes were recovered from the Airport

AMRITSAR: Customs staff at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, Amritsar seized 2,48,800 narcotics (1244 boxes - 10 bags containing 10 packets) on Sunday (March 5) morning. The market value of the seized goods is around Rs 28 lakh.

According to the reports, when the bag was scanned, it showed some suspicious images. On opening the bag, super slim cigarettes were found in it. The airline staff said that two passengers had traveled on the same flight from Dubai on the previous day on March 4, 2023, but they were not carrying these bags. Following which, on March 5, 10 bags containing 2,48,800 cigarettes were intercepted on arrival and seized under the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation is underway in the matter.
