Amritsar – Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal addressed the media today following his meeting with Indian nationals who were recently deported from the United States. The immigrants arrived at Amritsar airport, and Dhaliwal provided updates on their condition.
“Everyone is fine. Their paperwork is underway,” Dhaliwal stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. He urged the Central government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to engage in discussions with US President Donald Trump to seek a resolution to the deportation issue.
“This is a crucial matter between the two countries,” he remarked. “PM Modi claims to have a friendship with Donald Trump, having even campaigned for him during the US elections. This is an international issue that needs to be resolved at the negotiation table.”
Dhaliwal expressed concern about the looming threat of deportation and imprisonment faced by Indian nationals. “The Prime Minister should be a shield against the sword of deportation that hangs over our citizens,” he asserted.
He also provided insights into the experiences of the deported individuals, stating, “All Indian nationals are fine and healthy. They had food and tea.” During his discussions with the returnees, Dhaliwal learned that many had traveled to the US through agents based in Dubai, with some having taken routes via England or holding visas for Canada.
“Most of the agents involved are from Dubai,” he explained, adding that the circumstances for many had taken a turn for the worse.
In conclusion, Dhaliwal reiterated his call for Prime Minister Modi to meet with his “friend” Donald Trump to find a solution to the plight of the deported Indian nationals. The situation highlights ongoing challenges in international immigration and the need for diplomatic efforts to protect citizens abroad.
