Bar associations Chandigarh & Amritsar protest of attack on Advocate Lakhwinder Singh’s death news: The Amritsar Bar Association, in a State Call, unanimously resolved to observe a 'No Work Day' on Monday, 04.08.2025, and to stage a protest Dharna at 11:00 AM outside Gate No.1 of the District Courts Complex, Amritsar, over the tragic demise of Advocate Lakhwinder Singh, who succumbed to grievous injuries sustained in a brutal attack.

The decision was taken under the leadership of its President, Shri Gurpreet Singh Panesar, and includes a call to all Bar Associations across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh to join in solidarity.

In a statement issued, the Amritsar Bar Association said, “With deep sorrow and strong indignation over the untimely and tragic demise of Advocate Lakhwinder Singh, who succumbed to grievous injuries sustained in a brutal attack, the Amritsar Bar Association, under the leadership of its President Shri Gurpreet Singh Panesar, has unanimously resolved to observe No Work Day on Monday, 04.08.2025, and stage a protest Dharna at 11:00 AM outside Gate No.1 of the District Courts Complex, Amritsar.”

It further added, “In view of the gravity of the situation and in the interest of unity and justice for the legal fraternity, a State Call is hereby given to all Bar Associations across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh to observe No Work on 04.08.2025 in solidarity and demand the immediate arrest of all accused and accountability of law enforcement agencies.”

The Amritsar Bar Association has urged all judicial officers and relevant authorities to cooperate with the decision of the legal fraternity.

“May the soul of Advocate Lakhwinder Singh rest in peace. Let justice be delivered without delay,” it vowed.

In view of the State Call given by the Amritsar Bar Association, the Executive Body of the District Bar Association, Chandigarh has also unanimously decided to observe a "No Work Day" on 04.08.2025 (Monday).

The decision was taken following a meeting of the Executive Body of the District Bar Association, Chandigarh, to discuss the matter regarding the State-Level call issued by the Amritsar Bar Association.

In its official statement, the Executive Body said, “The Executive Body of the District Bar Association, Chandigarh has unanimously decided to observe a 'No Work Day' tomorrow, i.e., 04-08-2025 (Monday), in view of the untimely and tragic demise of Adv. Lakhwinder Singh, Member of the Amritsar Bar Association, who succumbed to grievous injuries sustained in a brutal attack a few days ago.”

It added, “The District Bar Association, Chandigarh, in full support of the State Call by the ABA, stands in solidarity and demands immediate action from the authorities to arrest the accused and ensure justice is served.”

Advocate Lakhwinder Singh's death:

Advocate Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Jandiala Guru, was critically injured in a brutal gun attack by unidentified assailants on July 21. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

According to a report by The Times of India, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Maninder Singh informed.

The arrested accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh alias Love, Manpreet Singh alias Money, and Manminder Singh alias Billa.
Pistols and magazines were also recovered from their possession.

Advocate Lakhwinder Singh was attacked while en route from Jandiala Guru to Amritsar. Three assailants opened indiscriminate fire on his vehicle.

As per the report, during interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that the attack was carried out at the behest of one Abhi, son of Kanta, a resident of Jandiala.

Investigations were ongoing as of August 2, and SSP Maninder Singh stated that more arrests might follow.
