He expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving families and prayed for the safety of all those who are stranded.

Rahul Gandhi Urges Centre To Release Special Package For Punjab & Himachal Pradesh Latest News: As Punjab is grappled with the worst flood of the past 40 years, and with no assurance from the centre for a special package or for the release of its pending fund of Rs 60,000 crore from the centre, the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha and the member of parliament Rahul Gandhi has urged the central government to release a special package for Punjab immediately and to expedite the relief and rescue operations in the state.

Rahul Gandhi, in a video post on X, called the situation in the mountain states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, and Uttarakhand ‘extremely worrying’ and urged for special packages for these states as well.

In the video, he said, “Modiji, floods have caused massive destruction in Punjab. The situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Himacha,l and Uttarakhand is also extremely worrying. In such difficult times, your attention and the active help of the central government is extremely necessary. Thousands of families are struggling to save their homes, lives, and loved ones.”

“I urge that a special relief package be announced immediately for these states, especially for farmers, and relief and rescue operations be accelerated,” he added.

According to reports, Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit flood affected villages in Punjab as his sixteen-day-long ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in poll-bound state ended on September 1.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving families and prayed for the safety of all those who are stranded.

He said, “I appeal to the central and state governments to bring greater speed and strength to relief and rescue operations. Given the magnitude of the devastation, the government will have to work in mission mode.

He added, “Farmers, labourers, livestock rearers, and common citizens should receive immediate and effective assistance.”

Rahul also urged Congress leaders and workers that relief work should be their utmost priority at this time, adding, “This is your sole responsibility. We must come together to hold the hand of the people of Punjab.”

The relief and rescue operations are ongoing round the clock, however, the situation remains dire with continuous rainfall and fresh heavy rainfall alerts issued in the state. More rivers are flowing over the danger mark.

Celebrities and politicians are coming forward one after another to make contributions in the relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations.
