AAP leaders in Punjab have hit out at the Centre for not providing any assurance on releasing the state's pending Rs 60,000 crore
Bhakra Dam Just 2.16 Feet Below Danger Mark, Anandpur Sahib and Nangal Under Threat Latest News: Due to continuous rains in Himachal Pradesh, and continuous rainfall in the Anandpur Sahib constituency over the past few days, the water level in the Bhakra Dam has risen, reaching 1677.84 feet, just 2.16 feet below the danger mark.
The increased water level in the dam due to excess inflow has now put the villages in the Anandpur Sahib and Nangal areas under threat. Various connecting roads have been lost and some have been closed due to waterlogging in the area. Fields are submerged, water is surrounding homes, and crops have been destroyed, with maize crops suffering the most damage.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains also shared a video in which he appealed to the sarpanches (village heads) of all villages near the riverbanks to send people from water-affected areas to government-designated shelters such as schools, gurdwaras, temples, etc., to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
Leader of opposition in the lower house, Rahul Gandhi, is likely to visit some of the flood-affected villages in the state as over 1040 villages are under water and 29 lives lost so far.
Rahul Gandhi, earlier today in a video, urged the centre to release special relief packages for Punjab and other mountain states.
AAP leaders in Punjab have hit out at the Centre for not providing any assurance on releasing the state's pending Rs 60,000 crore and for not announcing any special package.
