CM Bhagwant Mann flags off 2nd Batch of Principals for Singapore Training

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday (March 3) said that the state would witness a revolutionary change in the education sector through which students would be able to create their own bright future. Flagging off the second batch of principals for training in Singapore at MGSIPA here, the Chief Minister said that during the training, these teachers would be trained in modern teaching practices prevalent abroad.


CM Mann said that after their return, these teachers would share these practices with the students and their fellow teachers and ensure that the students get acquainted with the pattern of abroad studies. The CM visualized that with this, the students of the state would be able to compete with their peers educated abroad.

The Chief Minister said that this is a revolutionary step which will strengthen the entire education system of the state in a major way for the welfare of the students. He said that it was a matter of pride for him as these teachers would act as agents of change in the education sector in times to come. CM expressed hope that this would greatly benefit the students and bring about a qualitative change in the education system of the state.

The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that most of these teachers are state or national awardees and have carved a niche for themselves in the field of education. He said that the only criteria for selection of these teachers is merit to ensure that they play a leading role in education reform. CM Bhagwant Mann said that an agreement has already been made with them to post them in any school across the state after training.

The Chief Minister said that one such initiative which would go a long way in improving education is the 'School of Eminence'. He said that these schools would be more helpful in preparing the students for future competitions. He envisioned that these schools would become role models for other states, which would be followed across the country.

The Chief Minister said that all these efforts are aimed at reversing the trend of skill migration by making the youth active partners in the socio-economic development of the state. He said that Punjabi youth have great potential due to which world renowned IT companies and universities want to enter into knowledge sharing agreements with the state. CM Mann said that in fact Punjab has emerged as a model of quality education across the country.

The Chief Minister said that the visit to Singapore would enhance the professional knowledge and expertise of the teachers in the field of education. He said that this first-of-its-kind initiative by the state government is part of the state scheme for foreign training of teachers, which has been approved by the cabinet and aims to ensure that the professional skills of teachers are enhanced. The only objective of this step is to ensure quality education to the students of government schools.

The Chief Minister said that this training is an opportunity for teachers to learn about state-of-the-art teaching methods, leadership skills, preparation of teaching-learning materials and audio-visual technology in the post-pandemic world, Essentials of Strategic Management. This change in environment will be more helpful in broadening their experience by building teachers' professional capital, equipping them with curricular leadership, mentoring and lesson observation skills, innovation in teaching and learning and effective communication.

He envisioned that this initiative would prove to be a milestone in the reform of the education system in the state. CM Bhagwant Maan said that the day is not far when due to these efforts, Punjab will soon emerge as a pioneer state in the field of education.
