Sukhpal Singh Khaira News: High Court Orders Further Delay Due to Document Submission Delay
Sukhpal Singh Khaira Latest News: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has postponed the decision on the bail application of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to November 6. The delay comes as a result of the public prosecutor requesting additional time to submit necessary documents.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who represents the Bhulath constituency in Kapurthala, was arrested on September 28 by the Jalalabad Police at his Chandigarh residence in connection with an old NDPS case dating back to 2015. Khaira has maintained that his arrest is a form of revenge against him, suggesting that it is linked to his opposition to CM Bhagwant Mann.
The court had initially reserved its decision after arguments from both sides, with the verdict scheduled for November 2. However, the delay occurred when the public prosecutor sought additional time to gather and present essential documents, leading to the court's decision to extend the date to November 6.
Jasmeet Singh, a close associate of Sukhpal Singh Khaira, expressed optimism that Khaira would eventually secure his release. He revealed that the court had urged the public prosecutor to expedite the process, emphasizing that despite previous extensions, the necessary evidence had not been submitted. The court's order now mandates the submission of the required documents on November 6.
