Water Level In Ghaggar River On Rise, Touches Danger Mark, Check Points Being Set Up

An orange alert with the warning of moderate rain has been issued in Hoshiarpur and Sangrur in the nowcast.

Water Level In Ghaggar River On Rise, Touches Danger Mark, Check Points Being Set Up Latest News: As rainfall continues in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and adjoining areas, the water level in the Ghaggar River is continuously rising, posing a threat to those living along the river. 

So far, the water level in Ghaggar has been measured at 747.8, while the danger mark is 748.

Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba, who visited the Ghaggar River, told the media that proper arrangements have been made and that if any untoward incident occurs, the administration is ready to deal with it. 

He added that checkpoints are being set up. 

IMD has issued a red alert in the eastern districts of the state, warning of very heavy rainfall for today, while the South Western districts remain under orange and yellow alerts with the warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Nowcast:

In the nowcast, the state weather department has issued red alerts in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Moga, Barnala, Bathinda, and Mansa. 
An orange alert with the warning of moderate rain has been issued in Hoshiarpur and Sangrur in the nowcast.
Fazilka remains without any alert in the nowcast.

The nowcast is valid upto 3 pm today.
