Mother claimed that the deceased family borne all the marriage expenses, and following the marriage, deceased's wife, was sent to Canada

Kapurthala Husband Dies by Suicide After Wife Cuts Ties Latest News: A young resident of Punjab’s Kapurthala allegedly committed suicide after being distressed by the betrayal of his wife living abroad. The wife was sent abroad following the marriage for studies, and she refused to continue the relationship after getting a work permit there.

Begowal police station has registered a case against the accused wife along with her parents. No accused has been arrested yet.

Paramjit Kaur, the mother of the deceased, who is a resident of village Ghag, police station Begowal, told the police in her statement that her son, Lovejit Singh, married Harmanpreet Kaur on January 23, 2020.

Harmanpreet Kaur is the daughter of Baldeep Singh, a resident of village Bhagwanpur.

The mother claimed that the deceased family borne all the marriage expenses, and following the marriage, Harmanpreet Kaur the deceased’s wife, was sent to Canada for studies, spending Rs 28 Lakh on her studies, including college fees and living expenses, and some cash as well when she left.

However, after going abroad, she allegedly kept in touch with her husband only until she got a work permit. As soon as she got one, she allegedly cut ties with her husband, saying she would not invite him to Canada nor would she continue the relationship with him. Following this Lovejit, the deceased, got mentally distressed, leading to him committing suicide.

 Paramjit Kaur stated that his son had consumed something poisonous and died. On the statement of the deceased's mother, Begowal police have registered an FIR against the three accused.
