Punjab Floods: HM Amit Shah Speaks To CM Bhagwant Mann Latest News: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday spoke to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the phone and took stock of the flood situation in the state, the PTI reported, citing officials.
During the telephonic conversations, the governor and the chief minister briefed the home minister about the prevailing situation and the actions taken by the state government for the relief and rescue operations.
The development comes days after inundated conditions in over 800 villages in Punjab. Heavy rainfall in neighboring mountain states in the past two weeks and heavy rainfall in Punjab itself led to overflowing of rivers and resulted in water entering villages.
Cattle were washed away, hundreds of acres of crops are underwater, many acres of crops were washed away, people and animals have been living in water for over a week, and in some parts, it's more than a week.
Rescue and relief operations are ongoing across the Punjab.

Amit Shah to chair a high-level review meeting in Jammu
The home minister arrived in Jammu last night to review the ongoing relief and rescue operations and assess the damage caused by recent cloudbursts and floods. Shah will chair a high-level review meeting at Raj Bhavan in Jammu today.
