Greater Noida: One person was arrested in connection with illegal mining here and a tractor-trolley laden with sand was seized from him, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in the area near the Hindon river where Kapil, a resident of Lucknow, was arrested, Station house officer KK Rana said.

"Kapil was doing illegal sand mining since last fortnight," he said. A tractor-trolley loaded with sand was also seized during the raid, Rana said. Mining Officer Navin Kumar Das said that such raids are being conducted regularly to check illegal mining.
"Without proper licence from the department no mining activity is permitted. Normally, mining mafias do illegal mining at night, he said. PTI
