New Delhi: A 23-year-old man was shot dead
by motorcycle-borne men in northeast Delhi this morning, the
third incident reported in the last 36 hours in the area, the
police said.
In the incident, which took place in New Usmanpur, Rohit
Pal was shot in the head and stomach, they said, adding that
he was an accused in a couple of cases, including theft and
extortion.
Pal's father works with a power discom in Delhi. He had
left home to make preparations for a religious function, the
police said.
Police are scanning CCTV footages and questioning his
friends to ascertain the reason behind him being killed. His
call detail records are also being scanned.
Yesterday, Wazid was shot dead while his friend injured
in Brahmpuri and in another incident reported from nearby
Brahmpuri, a 22-year-old man Aarif Khan was shot at multiple
times.
Locals alleged that Pal's killing was linked to the other
two incidents and was a fall out of gang war.
However, the police dismissed the theory and the alleged
links between the three incidents.
Police said they have zeroed down on a few suspects in
Wazid's killing and raids are being conducted in Ghaziabad and
other parts of Uttar Pradesh to nab the suspects.
