Man arrested for trying to loot cash van in Noida

Ghaziabad/ Noida: An alleged robber, who tried to loot a cash van in Noida, was arrested within hours of the incident from Vaishali here after an encounter in which a sub-inspector was injured, the police said.

The Indirapuram police nabbed the accused around 11.30 am from the Sector 4 area. One of his accomplices managed to escape, they said.


Superintendent of Police (City) Akash Tomar said that the police got information on wireless about a robbery attempt in Noida in which two bike-borne people had shot at the guard of a cash delivery van.

Earlier in the day, Kailash, the guard, had suffered bullet injuries to his abdomen when he was trying to stop the accused from looting the van near a Noida mall. He has been admitted to a hospital, the police said.

The police intercepted the accused. Finding themselves cordoned they opened fire. Sub-Inspector Bhupendra Singh and the accused Rizwan, a resident of Bulandshahar, suffered bullet injuries, the SP said.

Rizwan has confessed to the crime. The Noida police is also questioning him.He is wanted in 18 criminal cases in Bulandshahr and Ghaziabad, he claimed.
