Police officials have also been told to celebrate Deepawali with the children of policemen at Police Lines.   In an official statement issued here by his office last night, UP DGP Sulkhan Singh said, "Deepawali, the festival of lights, will be celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety on October 19.

A number of orphans and those living in old-age homes, owing to crunch of resources and with virtually no family, cannot celebrate this festive occasion. Sharing some moments with these people on such occasions will be a humanitarian work."
