India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Maritime Leaders' Conclave in Mumbai on Wednesday, said that under the Maritime India Vision, over 150 initiatives have been launched and the capacity of India’s major ports has doubled, resulting in significant improvements across the maritime sector.
PM Modi said, “The Coastal Shipping Act has been designed to facilitate easier trade and strengthen supply chain security. Under the Maritime India Vision, over 150 initiatives have been launched, resulting in major improvements across the maritime sector. The capacity of India’s major ports has doubled, and turnaround times have been significantly reduced.”
‘Cruise tourism’ gains substantial momentum:
The Prime Minister further added that, in addition to these achievements, cruise tourism has gained substantial momentum.
“Inland waterways have experienced remarkable growth, with cargo movement increasing by more than 700%,” PM Modi added.
