Karanveer Singh believed to be harbored by Babbar Khalsa in Pakistan, targeted in international pursuit

NEW-DELHI: In a significant development, the Government of India has issued a Red Corner Notice against Garmkhiali Karanveer Singh, also known as Bablu, a fugitive sought in connection with a murder case dating back 13 years. The Interpol's involvement has played a crucial role in pushing forward the pursuit of Karanveer Singh, who is suspected to have found refuge with the Babbar Khalsa, a militant organization based in Pakistan.

Originally hailing from Kapurthala, Karanveer Singh fled to Pakistan after being implicated in a murder that took place 13 years ago. The incident, which transpired on 16th May 2010, involved the killing of Dera Sant Maia Das chief Pradhan Singh. The subsequent police investigation revealed Karanveer Singh's involvement in the heinous act. In 2010, the Punjab Police had announced a substantial reward of Rs 5 lakh for any information leading to the capture of Karanveer Singh.

Karanveer Singh, also known as Bablu, was apprehended on 18th October 2010 by the Hoshiarpur police, who arrested him at the residence of Ranjit Kaur in village Kila Baru. The arrest was accompanied by the recovery of incriminating items, including an AK 47 rifle, a hand grenade, magazines, detonators, a wireless set, a timer, and a significant amount of RDX. Despite the arrest, Karanveer Singh managed to escape police custody by absconding through a bathroom window at the CIA police station in Hoshiarpur during questioning, just three hours after being brought in.

Notably, India has numerous cases registered against Karanveer Singh, encompassing charges of criminal conspiracy, murder, violations under the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act, fundraising for terrorist activities, participation in terrorist gangs or organizations, and other related offenses.
