Three women and a child were killed when a speeding truck hit a stationary van in Haryana's Kaithal district today, police said. The accident took place on Kurukshetra road in the morning when the pickup the van, parked on the roadside, was getting its punctured tire fixed. Some of the passengers had got out but the four victims kept seated inside.

The truck, coming from Kurukshetra, lost control and crashed into the van, dragging it for a few meters before coming to a complete stop. The women and the child inside the van died on the spot. Six other sustained injuries, police said. The van was on its way to a village in Kaithal from Tohana.
