ECI Shared All Information in Aland Case, Says CEO Karnataka After Rahul Gandhi's Allegations

Earlier, the Election Commission of India in a post on X, called the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi are 'incorrect and baseless'.

Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, following the presentation of LoP Rahul Gandhi on the alleged voter chori in Aland constituency on Thursday, issued data on the issue, stating that an FIR was registered by the ERO under the authority of the ECI on 21.02.2023 and that all available information with the ECI had already been shared with the SP, Kalaburagi, on 06.09.2023, in the Aland Case 2023.

Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi alleged that 6,018 voters had been deleted from the constituency and claimed that when the CID requested crucial information from the ECI, it did not provide the essential details.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, stated, “ERO, 46-Aland received 6,018 applications in Form 7, which were submitted online using various apps such as NVSP, VHA, and GARUDA during December 2022. Suspecting the genuineness of such a large number of applications for deletion of electors’ names in 46-Aland LAC in Karnataka, verification of each application was conducted by ERO/AERO/BLOs.”

The CEO further said that only 24 applications were found to be genuine, while 5,994 were found to be incorrect. Accordingly, 24 applications were accepted and 5,994 incorrect applications were rejected and “not deleted.”

The CEO added that based on the inquiry findings by BLOs, ERO 46-Aland LAC lodged an FIR with the Inspector of Police, Aland Police Station, Kalaburagi district (FIR No.26/2023, Aland Police Station, dated 21.02.2023).

“After providing the requested information, meetings were also conducted by the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, with the Investigating Officer and cyber security experts of the police to review the progress of the investigation. The CEO, Karnataka, has already been providing any other assistance, information, or documents required by the investigating agency,” the statement added.
