SKM requested other farmer organizations and farmers to join this Bharat Bandh

Farmers’ Protest 2024 news update: Farmers from the Northern part of India have again started their protest by marching towards Delhi to emphasize their demands that include making MSP a law among the others. Samyukta Kisan Morcha has called for Bharat Bandh on February 16 amid farmers' Delhi Chalo march. SKM has requested other farmer organizations and farmers to join this Bharat Bandh. 

What is the plan for Bharat Bandh?

•    The Bharat Bandh is going to take place from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on February, 16. 
•    Farmers plan to stage chakka jams on main roads nationwide and close Punjab's highways for four hours.
•       Petrol and diesel to be not available in Punjab during the Bharat Bandh except for emergencies. 
•    Essential services like purchase and supply of vegetables and grains will be affected.
•    Village shops, agricultural activities, rural works, and MNREGA works have been asked to remain closed.
•    Grain markets, rural industrial and private sector entities, and vegetable markets are requested to remain closed.
•    Public transport may get affected as roadway employees join the protest.

Who are the other participating unions?

Government employees and trade unions have announced their participation, demanding the nullification of the old pension scheme and the formation of an 8th pay scale commission. Also, Haryana Sanjha Morcha roadway employees have joined, demanding changes to provisions related to hit-and-run cases, restoration of the pension scheme, and wage increases.
