SHIMLA: A Devastating cloudburst in the picturesque district of Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh, has left a trail of destruction in its wake, with reports indicating that five members of a single family are missing. This grim news was confirmed by local officials, who are currently leading rescue operations in the affected area.

The cloudburst, which occurred on Thursday, has led to a sharp rise in the water level of the Giri river, a significant tributary of the Yamuna. The overflowing river has breached its banks, causing water to inundate nearby residential areas. The scale of destruction caused by the cloudburst in Sirmaur is reported to be extensive.

Kuldeep Singh's house was tragically buried under a mound of debris, raising concerns that individuals might be trapped within the wreckage. In response to this calamity, approximately 70 families have evacuated their homes and sought refuge in safer locations along the national highway, seeking protection from the relentless forces of nature.

In a remarkable display of solidarity and community strength, local residents initiated rescue operations even before official help arrived. Sub Divisional Magistrate G.S. Cheema informed us that rescue efforts are being hindered by falling debris, causing delays in providing crucial relief to the affected village.
