Independent weather forecasters predict that October 7 and 8 will see minimal precipitation, with only a slight chance of brief showers in isolated areas. Looking ahead to October 10-14, dry weather is expected to continue, keeping conditions stable for residents and visitors alike.
IMD's Winter Outlook
Earlier this month, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that India may face a harsher winter, with La Niña conditions expected to develop by October-November. La Niña could potentially lead to severe cold waves, particularly in northern and central India. IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra indicated a 71% chance of La Niña developing, which could bring colder-than-usual temperatures to northern regions, including Jammu and Kashmir.
Heavy Rains Predicted Elsewhere
While Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience dry conditions, the IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in other parts of India. Kerala and Mahe are expected to receive heavy rainfall from October 6 to 12, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience similar conditions from October 7 to 11. South Interior Karnataka is also predicted to receive heavy rain from October 6 to 8. In Northeast India, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to see heavy rainfall on October 7.
Meanwhile, Northwest, West, and Central India are not expected to witness any significant rainfall during the coming week.
