Three Arrests have been made in the case, including that of the victim's Husband

PRATAPGARH: In a deeply disturbing incident reminiscent of a recent case in Manipur, another incident of grave human rights violation has come to light in Dharyawad, Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan. On August 31, a woman was subjected to a horrifying ordeal, made to walk naked for one kilometer while being beaten in full view of villagers. The incident remained concealed until a video of the harrowing incident went viral, drawing widespread condemnation.

According to Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, the victim had been married to a local young man approximately one and a half years ago. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the region, with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressing his unequivocal condemnation, stating that such criminals have no place in civilized society.

The Woman, deeply traumatized by the ordeal, lodged a complaint with the police late at night. In response, an FIR has been registered, naming 14 individuals allegedly involved in the incident. As a result, three arrests have been made, including that of the victim's husband.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also strongly condemned the incident and issued an urgent directive to the Director-General of Police (DGP) in Rajasthan. The NCW has called for immediate action and requested a comprehensive report within five days.

Notably, The accused learned of the impending police arrest on Friday night. Attempting to evade capture, one of the suspects fled into the nearby forest but sustained leg injuries during the escape. Nonetheless, the police successfully apprehended three suspects, with six police teams mobilized to pursue and arrest the remaining individuals involved in this crime.

The distressing incident unfolds following a backdrop of elopement, where the victim had reportedly run away with a young man from a neighboring village, Opla Kota, just six months after her marriage. On August 30, she returned to her in-laws' residence with her companion after a year of absence. Her family members forcibly brought her back to their village, Pahara, where her husband subsequently subjected her to the unspeakable act of public humiliation, stripping her naked and parading her before the villagers. Shockingly, the incident unfolded with bystanders present, many of whom captured the scene on video. Reportedly, The victim, who is six months pregnant, can be seen in the viral video crying out for mercy while pleading for her dignity to be preserved.
