RAJOURI/JAMMU: A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Friday morning. The officials gave this information. He said that the body of the terrorist was found in a cave where he was hiding during the encounter.
This is the third such incident in Jammu region in the last three days. Officials said that as a precaution, the administration has decided to keep all the schools closed.
A Public Relations Officer of the Defense Department said that during the cordon and search operation conducted by the army in collaboration with the police, some suspicious activities were witnessed in the forest area of Dasal Gurjan. After the forces were fired upon, the campaign turned into an encounter. The forces also retaliated and firing continued throughout the night from both sides.
He said that the search operation was started again this morning. Jammu and Kashmir Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said that one terrorist has been killed. His body has been recovered and sent to a hospital. He was hiding in a cave during the encounter.
The terrorist is said to be of Pakistani origin. According to the sarpanch of Behwal Kewal village, the encounter started at around 3:00 in the morning. According to some unconfirmed reports, when the encounter started, two-three terrorists were hiding in the area. Further investigation in the matter is ongoing.
