To aid the homeless during the harsh weather, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) established 235 pagoda tents and several night shelters at locations like AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and Nizamuddin Flyover. Residents across the city sought warmth around bonfires or in the safety of these shelters.
Rajasthan also experienced severe cold, disrupting daily routines. Jaipur shivered at 7.2°C, while Bikaner and Churu recorded temperatures of 7°C and 6°C, respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh, cities like Ayodhya were engulfed in dense fog as temperatures dropped. Meerut recorded 9°C, while Lucknow experienced 10°C, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Further north, Jammu and Kashmir remained under an icy grip, with temperatures plummeting below zero. Srinagar recorded -1.5°C, while popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg and Pahalgam registered -2.4°C and -6°C, respectively.
