Himachal Pradesh Weather Today, Red Alert Issued, Warns of Very Heavy Rainfall Latest News: Continuous downpour since yesterday morning has affected daily life in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. Further weather warnings have been issued in several districts.

Orange Alert: The Meteorological Centre, Shimla, has issued an orange alert in eight districts of Himachal Pradesh, warning of heavy rain, in the nowcast, valid till 6 pm this evening.

Yellow Alert: Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for four southern districts, namely, UNA, Kinnaur, Shimla, and Sirmaur for the next two hours.

Red Alert: In the forecast, IMD has placed Chamba, Kangra and Mandi under Red alert waning of very heavy rain.

Orange Alert: Kullu district has been warned of heavy rain under the orange alert.

Yellow Alert; Lahul Spiti, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaaspur, and Solan have also been warned of heavy rain however, under a yellow alert.

Meanwhile, no alerts have been issued in Kinnaur, Shimla, and Sirmaur for today in the forecast.

Himachal Pradesh Weather Observed in the past 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, as reported at 8:30 in the morning today, the lowest minimum temperature in the state of 5.5 °C was recorded in Keylong, while Dharamshala and Manali received the maximum rainfall in the state of 102 mm.

 Weather Outlook For August 27 and for The Next Few Days:

As per the latest updates, IMD has issued a yellow alert in two districts in the state for tomorrow, warning of heavy rain in Shimla and Mandi. Rainfall will continue in most of the district till 30 August.

Possible Impacts Under the Orange Alert (Nowcast) as Shared By IMD Shimla:

  • Possibility of landslide/mudslide in vulnerable areas.
  • Water logging in low lying areas.
  • Partial damage to horticulture & standing crops.
  • Possibility of inundation/flash flood in vulnerable areas.
  • Damage to vulnerable structures and huts.
  • Visibility conditions very likely to decrease.
  • Traffic congestion.
  • Vehicles skidding due to slippery roads.

  • Follow any traffic advisories.
  • Avoid going near water bodies.
  • Limit outdoor activities and keep yourself at the safer place and stay indoors.
  • Move livestock at the safer place.

Continuous Downpour affects Daily life, Schools Remain closed on 26:

Continuous downpour since yesterday morning has resulted in landslides, the falling of trees, and subsequent road closure in Shimla, officials said.

 In the view of the weather warnings issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), District Shimla for today,  considering the safety and security of the students, Deputy Commissioner-cum - Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority ordered the closure of all Government and Private educational institutes, including Schools, Colleges, Anganwadis, ITIs, Polytechnics and nursing institutes throughout the district on 26th August, 2025 (Tuesday).
