Dalai Lama is Not Only a Religious Leader but a Flag Bearer of Peace, Says Himachal Deputy CM
Dalai Lama Himachal Pradesh Uttrakhand News: Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mukesh Agnihotri, was among several dignitaries who attended the birthday celebrations of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as His Holiness turns 90.
Speaking to ANI, Agnihotri called the Dalai Lama's presence in Himachal Pradesh “a matter of great pride,” describing him as “not just a religious leader but the flag bearer of world peace.”
He said, “The presence of the Dalai Lama in Himachal Pradesh is a matter of great pride. He is not only the religious leader of Tibet but also a global symbol of peace. For a long time, the government of Tibet in exile has been operating from Dharamshala. We share strong ties with the Tibetan people. The Himachal Pradesh government has even granted voting rights to them.”
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also extended birthday greetings to His Holiness through a post on X, writing, “Heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the revered Buddhist spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, on his birthday. Your life is a shining example of non-violence, patience, compassion, and inner strength. Today, the world needs these values more than ever.”
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a programme at Clement Town, Dehradun, where he extended heartfelt wishes to citizens and the Tibetan community. On this occasion, he announced that Buddha Temple Road would be widened and a tin shed would be constructed at the Tibetan cremation ground.
