This restructuring aims to enhance efficiency and streamline decision-making within the Union Territory.
Key Highlights of the New Structure
Under the revised setup, the number of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in Chandigarh has been increased to bolster administrative capabilities. The revamped framework includes 11 key positions, which are:
- Chief Secretary – Now the leading authority in Chandigarh's administration.
- Secretary (Home)
- Secretary (Finance)
- Secretary, Town Planning (Smart City)
- Deputy Commissioner (District)
- Joint Secretary (Finance)
- Excise Commissioner
- Secretary
- Additional Secretary
- Additional Deputy Commissioner
Objective of the Changes
The decision to abolish the Advisor's post and increase the number of IAS officers aims to improve the efficiency of the Chandigarh Administration and ensure better service delivery.
