After Pulses and tomatoes, other vegetables, including peas and tomatoes, have started to disappear from the plates of middle-class and poor families. Other vegetables like Gourd have reached Rs 80 per kg, Cabbage is around Rs 120 rupees per kg while ladyfinger is also available at Rs 60 per kg. 

Simultaneously, garlic and ginger, used in almost every vegetable, are also priced at Rs 280 per kg.

Not only vegetables but the prices of fruits have also been increasing at an alarming rate. The price of Apple is around Rs 300 per kg. 

In this matter, Punjab's former health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that instead of providing facilities to the people, the BJP government is a government that provides facilities to corporate houses and runs on their cues. He said that to reduce inflation, first of all, it is very important to reduce the excise duty on diesel because transport has a lot of impact on the prices of all kinds of daily use items including vegetables and fruits.
