Bokaro made its mark in Bhilai, event held on World Public Relations Day

Bokaro, (Nirmal Maharaj)  Public Relations Officer Abhinav Shankar, who brought fame to the public relations department of Bokaro Steel Plant across the country in the matter of digitization and artificial intelligence, including social media, has once again proved his talent. On Friday, Abhinav made the name of the Bokaro Steel family proud by securing first place through his presentation in the national-level PR Conclave ConnectCon organized by the Public Relations Department of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant in the multipurpose auditorium of Bhilai Niwas on the occasion of World Public Relations Day. In his presentation, Abhinav gave detailed information about the innovative work done by Bokaro Steel in the PR field, including AI & U, which was appreciated by all. Not only this, Abhinav performed the best in the On the Spot Ad Creation Competition and won the first prize.  Their performance in the quiz was also excellent.

The conclave was attended by public relations professionals from Rourkela, Bokaro, Corporate Office, VISL, CSP, industry experts, and representatives from various reputed organizations who shared their views on effective communication strategies and related topics. During the program, several short films produced by the Public Relations Department of Bhilai Steel Plant were also screened. To make the program interesting, a quiz competition was organized in which the winners were given prizes on the spot. Senior Manager (Public Relations, BSL) Abhinav Shankar won the first prize in the competition. General Manager (HR & PR, VISL) L. Praveen Kumar was awarded the second prize, while Deputy General Manager (SSS-3, BSP) Nitin Agnihotri stood third. The incentive award was won by Samnvit Ghosh.

Public Relations is now the strategic basis of institutional development: Mahapatra

Earlier, the program was inaugurated by Bhilai Steel Plant Director-in-Charge Chittaranjan Mahapatra as the chief guest.  Based on the theme Connect, Communicate, Create, the objective of this one-day conclave was to have in-depth discussions on the latest trends, challenges, opportunities, and changing trends in the field of public relations. Many senior officials of various plants, including BSP, were present in the program. Shri Mahapatra congratulated the Public Relations Department for organizing ConnectCon-2025, and in his address, he said that the role of public relations is no longer limited to media management, but it has become a strategic basis for the institutional development of any organization.

Abhinav has been awarded the Top Innovator, has developed AI news anchoring system

Let us tell you that BSL's PR team is proving to be very adept in technical matters. Abhinav's innovative efforts have given it a lot of momentum. He has also been awarded as the Top Innovator in the field of Artificial Intelligence, for which SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash also gave him a certificate. Abhinav, the young manager of the BSL PR team, has himself developed an AI voice-cum-visual model named Pragati for news presentation.  He developed it using techniques like signal processing, sound engineering, and natural language processing. The SAIL chairman himself praised it while inaugurating it. The AI voice in this model has been developed completely in-house without the help of any external agency and for language learning, it has been developed on Harvard's machine learning model Neptune 3.0. This AI voice, due to the fine tuning of its natural language processing in its Hindi voice modulation and tonality, is not only capable of accurately pronouncing the most difficult words in Hindi, but also processes English words in Indian intonation, due to which it appears like a natural voice without any robotic tone and in this respect, it is not only the most advanced AI voice model of Hindi in SAIL but also in the country at present. Under the program called Bokaro Darpan, an AI news anchor named Pragati reads BSL news every day and it is broadcast on YouTube and other social media platforms along with the related video.
